Diagnostic description:
This species was recently described for São Paulo State (Marcelli et al. 2007) and is characterized by a laciniate thallus with narrow laciniate (0.8–3.0 mm), and abundantly ciliate lobes. It is close to P. nylanderi, especially regarding the chemistry and the soredia produced from pustules. See comments under this species for more details.
